Well here’s another quick guide how to change your DNS Server to a 3rd party DNS Server (To Un-block Hulu/Netlfix etc)

First we need to open up our control panel. Quick way to do this is click Start > Search > “Control Panel”
Click the top option that appears, you should now have the following window popup, as in the example below.

From the index choose Network And Sharing Center, (Double click on this icon) you will then get the following window.
In this window just Click “Change Adapter Settings” in the left bar. (As shown in the example below)

changednscontent2
A bunch of device icons will now be displayed, right click on your network device and choose properties.
In my case this was Local Area Connection, but it could also be a wireless adapter or named something else.

changednscontent3
Choose the IP version you would like to set the DNS settings for and click “properties”.
I will be choosing IPv4 for this guide, but the steps are basically identical for IPv6. (You’re SmartDNS company will explain)

changednscontent4
In the window that pops up, click “Advanced” in the bottom right of the windows.
(Just keep following the screen shot examples, you won’t get too lost honest)

changednscontent5
In this next window just Click the “DNS” tab at the top of the box.
(Keep following the YELLOW highlighted images if you get stuck)

changednscontent6
Finally! Click Add and then type the Smart DNS IP in the box that pops up
and click add again. That’s it you’re done! You should now be-able to watch
All the USA TV Network stations, Access USA Hulu/Netflix ETC!!!

So what about doing the same in Windows 8.1?

It’s exactly the same, but the screens might look completely different. But don’t let this put you off. Remember only the screen menu’s look different.

On the Start Screen type “Control Panel” and just click on the Control Panel icon. IF you’re in desktop mode, open the Charms menu, choose settings, and select Control Panel. Last step, from Control Panel, under Network and Internet, click View network status and tasks.

Now Click the link next to Connections on the right. This screen shot shows a wireless connection To a Plusnet router so the link is Wifi (PlusnetWireless). If you’re using a wired connection the link will be named differently. Each persons connection label/name will be different.

changedns8content2
On the connection status window, click Properties. (Like the example below)
(Remember if you get stuck, just keep following the Red Marked buttons as a guide)

changedns8content3

Almost finished, Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
from the list, then click Properties. (Follow the Red Marked Buttons)

changedns8content4
Select Use the following DNS server addresses, and enter The details
You was provided with, from your Smart DNS Provider. Into the boxes below.

That’s it! Now just like windows 7, windows 8.1 is now setup so you can
Watch Hulu/USA Netflix etc.. If you get stuck, go back and follow the items that’s marked in red.
